What Makes My Memorial Jewellery Different? Secure, Elegant, and Handmade in Belfast

When someone we love dies, it can feel like there’s a piece of us missing. And in those quiet moments, when the grief feels heavy, many people find comfort in something they can hold close, something that brings a sense of connection.
That’s where memorial jewellery can be so special. But I know from speaking to so many people that choosing the right piece isn’t always easy. You want something that’s beautiful. Something that lasts. And something that doesn’t feel like a mass-produced trinket.
So I thought I’d share a little more about how I make my memorial ashes jewellery — and what makes it different from others you might come across.
Handmade by Me, One Piece at a Time
Each piece is made by hand, by me, Katrina, here in my small studio in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I don’t have a team or a production line. I make one piece at a time, using recycled silver and traditional tools. That means every cross, pendant or ring is truly one of a kind, just like the person it’s made to honour.
I know that the ashes I work with are incredibly precious. I treat them with the care and respect they deserve, from the moment they arrive to the moment the finished piece is posted back to you.
The Ashes Are Held Securely — Forever
One of the biggest worries I hear is, “Will the ashes fall out?”
It’s such an important question, and the truth is, not all memorial jewellery is made the same way. Some pieces use compartments or resin, and while they can be beautiful, they can also come with uncertainty over time.
The way I work is different. The ashes are carefully sealed inside the silver itself. Once they’re in, they can never come out. It’s a permanent bond, and there’s no screw, glass, or opening to check or worry about.
That means you can wear your piece every day with confidence, knowing your loved one is safe and always close.
Elegant and Timeless — Jewellery You’ll Actually Want to Wear
When I design a piece of memorial jewellery, I imagine how it will feel to wear — not just today, but years from now.
So many people tell me they want something subtle, something that blends in with their style, and doesn’t look too obviously like “ashes jewellery.” That’s exactly what I aim to create, pieces that are elegant, timeless, and personal, that fit in beautifully with what you already wear.
Whether it’s a delicate pendant, a silver cross, or a simple textured charm, these are pieces you can wear every day with quiet meaning. And if someone compliments it, you get to choose whether or not to share the story behind it.
Created with Intention and Heart
I only use recycled silver in my work, not just because it’s more sustainable, but because I believe something this meaningful should be created with care at every step.
I shape, texture and finish each piece slowly, using traditional techniques. There’s no rush, no shortcuts, just quiet, thoughtful making.
And I think you can feel that when you wear it.
A Piece to Treasure — and Pass On
One of the things I love most about memorial jewellery is that it’s more than something to wear, it’s something to carry forward.
These pieces can be handed down to the next generation. They hold not just ashes, but stories… memories… love. They become part of your family’s history, a quiet heirloom that keeps your loved one close through time
A Piece That’s Just for You
Memorial jewellery isn’t just about holding ashes, it’s about creating something you can wear with pride, with love, and with peace of mind.
If you’re looking for a piece that’s personal, beautiful, and made with genuine care, you’re in the right place. When you place your order, I’ll be in touch with all the information you need to safely send a small amount of ashes to me.
And if you're not quite ready yet, that's okay too. I'm here whenever the time is right for you.
